“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above horded gold it would be a better world.” - J.R.R. Tolkien

And so it was on the evening of April 28, when the Copper Kettle transformed into the Shire for its third annual Hobbit Tea. The tables were laid out for the banquet, and guests were entertained with great Irish music by Ginny’s Chickens, Leah Christina Johnson, and our two favorite violin players Melody Duncan and Katy Herndon. There were a few anxious moments when rowdy dwarves journeying from the Blue Mountains and a sleeping dragon crossed paths, but we are happy to report no Hobbits were harmed. Some guests journeyed as far as Jacksonville, Florida to attend, and one Hobbit family, Kelly Nolan Rock, had this to say: “My kids and I had the best time at the Hobbit Tea, the evening was a magical experience, delicious food and a memorable night.”
