The seniors at DayBreak Senior Daycare were thrilled to be visited by members of the band The Hoots recently. The band performed for over an hour and often the seniors sang along. Everyone had a great time! Shown here after the performance, standing from the left are Jean Cocker, Barbara DiPierre, Bill Sovine and Bland Blankenship. Seated, from the left, are Al Carlson, his dog Jessie, Tom Moore, Pierre Geneux and Bob Lawrence.

DayBreak Senior Daycare provides a secure, loving environment where individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia are encouraged to participate in playing games, craft projects, singing, exercising and social interaction. The senior daycare provides participants’ fulltime caregiver with short term relief from the unrelenting demands of care giving by providing time out to grocery shop, attend support groups, or visit friends and family.

All DayBreak Senior Daycare participants must be pre-registered. The program is not designed to provide medical or counseling services but to provide support for the caregivers and their loved ones. It is offered every Monday and Wednesday from 10 am to 2 pm and is located in Building B on the South Campus of Gulf Shores United Methodist Church. Cost is $20 per visit and includes a hot lunch. For information on DayBreak Senior Daycare please contact Dolly Crewes at 251-968-3634 (dollycrewes@gmail.com) or Amelia Fletcher at 251-968-2549 (amelia@gulfshoresumc.org).
