Toros win Back to School Bash

FAIRHOPE— The Spanish Fort Toros rallied from a game down to defeat St. Luke’s Wildcats 2-1 (26-28, 25-16, 15-13) to claim the 2016, 12-team Back to School Bash tournament at Fairhope High Saturday. Carley Hamric led the No. 1-ranked Class 6A Toros’ total-tournament stats with 54 kills, 5 aces, 16 Blocks and 15 digs; Reilly Vought had 110 assist, 19 kills, 7 blocks and 24 digs; Carissa Jones added 23 kills, 4 blocks, 11 aces, 58 digs and Taylor Fontenelle came up with 54 digs and scored 7 aces.

The No. 1-ranked Class 2A Wildcats were led in the finals by Natalie Bonner with 7 kills, 6 digs; Lauren Bailey with 12 assists and Kellan Hensley with 17 digs.

The tournament hosting Pirates advanced through pool play to the semifinals with a 25-12, 25-10 win over Theodore before falling to SFHS. The Wildcats swept through pool and quarterfinal play and earned a bye to the finals. The Toros improved to 14-3. St. Luke’s moves on with a 12-3 record.
