FOLEY, Alabama — Two residents were arrested Tuesday on drug charges after officials with the Baldwin County Drug Task Force and Baldwin County Criminal Investigations Division discovered a meth lab at a home in Foley.

Richard Brett Harkins, 50, of Foley, and Mary Elizabeth Giovanniello, 42, of Summerdale, were both charged with possession of a controlled substance, manufacture of a controlled substance, first degree, possession of drug paraphernalia and drug trafficking following a joint investigation near the 6000 block of Pineywoods Road.

In addition, Giovanniello was charged with obstructing justice (identity theft) after officials say she used someone else’s driver license to purchase the main ingredient, psudoephedrine. Harkins is in jail on a $145,500 bond while Giovanniello is in jail on $160,500 bond.

According to a release issued Tuesday by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigations Division, agents safely secured the meth lab and neutralized it.
