United Way of Baldwin County raising money for Gulf Shores Parade victims

Posted

Following the accident at the Gulf Shores Mardi Gras Parade earlier this week, people across Baldwin County have asked how they can help with the situation.

United Way of Baldwin County has started a fundraiser that will help case management and assistance for the families whose children were affected by the accident.

United Way Executive Director Marina Simpson said this was a direct way to make sure the victims and their families will have needs taken care of.

“With all of the expenses that will occur with a situation like this for these families, we just want them to be able to be made whole again,” Simpson said. “With how insurance can go, they could be out money for a long time, so we want to make sure these families get the assistance and help they need.”

Simpson said she and her staff have been in communication with the Baldwin County Schools system to see what needs the school has as well.

“Depending on how much money we raise, we’re in communication with the school board on what the band possibly might need, as well as what the school might need,” Simpson said. “Those decisions will be made as they come along.”

Donations can be made at https://commitchange.com/al/foley/united-way-of-baldwin-county-inc/campaigns/we-are-united , and any donation made to the fund is tax-deductible.

Simpson said people can also mail in a check or stop by the office in Foley to hand in any donation they might have.

“Just make sure to specify the designation is for the Gulf Shores incident,” Simpson said.
