Wildflowers Boutique celebrated the Seventh Annual Toys For Kids charity event held at the Perdido Beach Resort with a record-breaking donation.
Countless hours and relentless dedication from Mother & Daughter duo, Terri Long and Candice
Duncan of Wildflowers Boutique along with their longtime sales assistant Debbie Stillion paid
off in a sizable way for Christian Service Center Saturday night. The purveyors of fabulous fun
fashion in Orange Beach for the past 10 years, these ladies delivered a wildly successful night
filled with generous locals, out of towners and community leaders including Orange Beach
Mayor Tony Kennon, Councilman’s Jerry Johnson and Jeff Boyd.
Upon arriving at the Perdido Beach Resort, guests were greeted along the drive with
spectacular holiday-themed lit palm trees and glittering, colorful, oversized Christmas
ornaments marking a path to the splashing sounds of a tiered blue water fountain. Hosted by
the resort and held in the Grand Ballroom, the sparkle of the evening began with a welcoming
Santa and Mrs. Claus, complimentary bubbly bar and rows of artfully presented silent and live
auction items. For the fashion show, Debbie dressed three dozen beautiful local ladies who modeled a stunning array of clothing, shoes and accessories found exclusively at Wildflowers Boutique.
Along with the Champagne Bar, the resort provided a delicious dinner buffet facilitating 100 percent of all monies raised going directly to the Christian Service Center, a volunteer only 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. At the direction of award-winning chef Brody Olive, mini shrimp grit cakes, fresh julienne vegetables, pork sliders and a unique mashed potato bar were served.
Live entertainment by Yeah, Probably kept the dance floor packed all night while HGTV’s Pat Simpson geared up to host the live auction during intermission. Pat really energized the crowd and they generously opened their wallets and kind hearts to benefit local children in need during the holiday season.
Volunteers from Christian Service Center and our local community worked tirelessly throughout the evening to guarantee a smooth and flawless experience. When the tally was complete for the sale of all sponsored tables, event tickets, raffle tickets and auctioned items, Christian Service Center announced a successful evening totaling $41,500, bringing Terri Long’s vision of helping children through her charity to nearly $110,000 for the past seven years. The Toys for Kids event is the main funding for the Christmas Cheer program providing children in Orange Beach, Gulf Shores and Ft. Morgan new toys and their families a Food Box, including a turkey. Last year 566 children were the recipients of Toys For Kids and 190 families received a Food Box.
Terri Long, Candice Duncan and Debbie Stillion of Wildflowers Boutique extend huge hugs of
gratitude to the outpouring of community support received, including those businesses that
donated items to the auction and sponsored tables purchased.
