Zoanne Elizabeth Hazen Perez

Zoanne was born in Detroit, Michigan. She died after a short illness on Tuesday, May 2.

Zoanne moved to Niles, Michigan to teach at Niles High School in 1948. In 1950, she met and married Art Perez.

Zoanne taught piano lessons, owned New Day Real Estate and developed White Oaks Development in Buchanan, Michigan where they moved in 1978.

She participated in many service organizations, chaired many golf events, was a member of several garden clubs and was a Master Gardener.

After finishing their part in the development process, Zoanne and Art moved to Gulf Shores, Alabama. Zoanne was a member of Gulf Shores United Methodist Church.

She was characterized by her dry sense of humor, adventurous spirit, zest for life and was called "an elegant lady."

She is survived by her spouse, Art; her two children, Marta Coward-Glunt (Tom) and Ed Perez (Delia); five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 6, followed by a celebration of life.
