ROBERTSDALE, Alabama -- The George P. Thames Adult Activity Center held its 10th annual soup contest Friday, Feb. 22 at the center in Robertsdale.

Eleven soups were presented to the judges, Robertsdale Mayor Charles Murphy, Superintendent of Utilities Scott Gilbert, and Gerald Ardoin, owner of Café Acadiana in Silverhill.

Claudia Barbee took home first place honors for her pasta soup, followed by Mary Nabors, second, broccoli soup, Dot Thorne, third, vegetable soup; and Warene Parish, foruth, vegetable beef soup.

Soups were judged on appearance, texture and taste. Following the contest, a full house enjoyed the Center’s monthly Soup Kitchen and were able to sample all of the soups in the contest.
