ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect that was involved in multiple thefts in the Elsanor community.

According to a statement issued Monday, during the last two weeks the suspect stole property from a construction company off U.S. 90. One of the items stolen was a Husqvarna zero turn mower.

The suspect is identified as an adult male driving a black Dodge Ram truck. The truck had a Texas tag on it that did not belong on the vehicle.

Deputies with BCSO patrol initiated a pursuit on the truck on Jan. 12. The pursuit started in the Seminole community and continued into the Beulah community of Escambia County, Florida.

The suspect was towing a travel trailer when the pursuit began. The suspect drove through a field, dislodging the travel trailer from the truck, and eventually wrecked into a brick mailbox. The suspect continued until he hit a tree on Mobile Highway. The truck caught on fire and was completely burned. The suspect ran on foot and was not located.

The Florida Highway Patrol is assisting in the case.
