She married Joe Childress in 1956, and raised four children with him in Kingwood, Texas, where she faithfully served at Forest Cove Baptist Church as a Sunday school teacher, prayer warrior and mentor to many.

Widowed in 1986, she worked for the Humble Independent School District for 19 years until she retired in 1994.

In 2001, Bonnie and Stanley Cruse married and began their life together in Summerville, South Carolina. She was an active member of the Fellowship at Oakbrook, and she leaves a legacy of faithfulness to prayer, bible study and a genuine desire to serve the Lord.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Stanley Cruse; and her children, Callie Childress Jacks( Randy), Karla Childress Kahn (Charlie), Mark Childress, Stanley Cruse Jr. (Debbie) and Mark Cruse (Melissa). Bonnie was the proud Mimi to seven grandchildren, Jordan Jacks, Ben Jacks, John David Fields, Callie Fields, Camille Childress, Stanley Cruse and Mason Cruse.
