ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Robertsdale High School basketball player Caden Willingham will be taking his game to the next level, signing Monday, July 2 in the gym at RHS with Stillman College of Tuscaloosa.

“We are proud of Caden and what he has been able to accomplish here at Robertsdale,” said RHS men’s basketball coach Marshall Davis. “We look forward to seeing what he can accomplish at the next level.”

In his two years at RHS, Willingham averaged 10.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.0 blocks per game, including 12.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.8 spg, 2.0 apg and 1.0 bpg in his senior season.

In his senior season he earned All-County and 6A Area 2 All-Tournament Team honors. He was named Team MVP and Permanent Team Captain by his fellow players and was a Mobile Optimist Club Player of the Week.

As a junior he was named to the 2016 Choctaw High School All-Tournament team when the Golden Bears competed against teams from Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee and Alaska.

Willingham will join a Stillman College team that enjoyed a history-making season in 2017-18 under first-year head coach John Teasley.

“I’m excited to welcome Caden to the Stillman family,” said Tigers assistant coach Gerald Watkins. “He’s a hard worker on and off the court and a true student athlete. I’m really looking forward to him being a part of our program.”

Stillman finished this past season with a 27-5 record, winning the Association of Independent Institutions (AII) Men’s Basketball Tournament and earning a berth in the NAIA Division II National Tournament.

Willingham’s signing Monday was the first under new RHS Principal Joe Sharp. The Silverhill native and RHS graduate was a standout in football and basketball at RHS and served as defensive coordinator for the Golden Bears football team from 1994-98.

“Sports has meant a lot to me growing up and in my career,” Sharp said, “I am proud to be a part of this young man’s athletic accomplishment and hope to be a part of many more to come.”
