PERDIDO, Alabama — Participants will get a double shot at benefitting education at the annual Clays for A’s event, set for Friday, March 26 at Bushy Creek Clays, 22505 Will Vaughn Road, Perdido.
The annual event is a project of Leadership Baldwin County and will be presented by Wind Creek Hospitality. It is a benefit for Baldwin County’s seven Education Foundations, the North Baldwin Coalition for Excellence in Education, the Central Baldwin Education Foundation, the Spanish Fort Enrichment Foundation, SEEDS of Daphne, the Fairhope Educational Enrichment Foundation (FEEF), the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation and the Coastal Baldwin Educational Enrichment Foundation.
Last year’s event , set for Friday, March 27, was canceled in the early days of the coronavirus shutdown and in organizing this year’s event, the Leadership Baldwin Class of 2021 reached out to the Classs of 2020 and agreed to host a combined event this year.
“Last year’s event was planned as a half-day shoot and last year’s class worked so hard to get sponsors and sign up teams that they decided they wanted to continue their support this year,” said Mandy Bezeredi, one of the event’s organizers on behalf of the Leadership Baldwin Class of 2021.
So rather than refund money from last year’s event, this year’s event will include both classes.
The class of 2021 sponsors and teams will participate in a morning flight, with registration beginning at 8 a.m., followed by a safety meeting at 9 and shot gun start at 9:30 a.m.
The class of 2020 sponsors and teams will begin registration at 11 a.m., followed by lunch at noon, safety meeting at 1 p.m. and shot gun start at 1:30 p.m. Awards will follow the afternoon flight.
While the registration deadline was set for March 12, Bezeredi said there might be a few slots available on the morning flight and anyone interested is welcome to call her at 251-543-6750 for registration availability.
Men and women are invited to participate in the event on March 26. Four-person teams can register at a cost of $125 per person. Individuals can also purchase a warm up and four mulligans for the five-stand event at a cost of $15. Golf cart rental for teams is also available for $35. All shooters must bring their own shotgun and 110 shells. Eye and ear protection is required.
