FAIRHOPE, Ala. - Forrest Taylor booted a pair of field goals (19 and 20 yards) to give the visiting Lions an early 6-0 lead over the Pirates at Majors Field. Foley capitalized on back-to-back turnovers in the first quarter for the lead, but Fairhope came back with a three-to-one touchdown ratio to win the latest edition in the Battle of the Blue and Gold series 21-13.

After Taylor’s second field goal, Braxton Jordan returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards and Robert Noel’s point-after put the Pirates up 7-6.

Foley retook the lead 13-7 early in the second quarter when La'Darius Adams capped a drive with a 4-yard touchdown set up by a 55-yard run by quarterback Andy Quaites. In the third quarter Fairhope quarterback Riley Leonard scored on a 16-yard touchdown run and the PAT put the Pirates up 14-13.

Cyline Koen extended the Fairhope lead to 21-13 on a 13-yard run just before the start of the fourth period.

The Pirates, 5-3 overall and 4-2 in Class 7A, Region 1 play are off this week. The Lions (1-6, 1-4) will host Mary G. Montgomery.
