$32 million and two years later, Point Clear’s Grand Hotel has almost completed its extensive renovations.

Regulars and first-time visitors to the Grand Hotel will enjoy many new upgrades to the facility and the grounds of the hotel, which include room redesigns throughout the property, improvements at the facility’s spa and new restaurant and dining opportunities.

“With the construction process in its final phases, the Queen of Southern resorts is beginning to look better than ever,” Scott Tripoli, general manager of the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Golf Club and Spa, said. “From pool, spa and golf upgrades to exceptional indoor and outdoor improvements, the excitement continues to build.”

The Grand’s popular pool area has been upgraded to include new amenities like cabanas, which guests and members can rent for the day. The renovations to the pool area also included the removal of bushes and other flora that had blocked guests from being able to see the beautiful beach and Bay view on site near the pool.

“We think this just provides another amazing amenity that our guests and members will really appreciate,” Tripoli said.

Several new dining opportunities will also be on site for guests and the public to enjoy. The new Southern Roots and Bayside Grill restaurants will feature fan-to-table fare and upgraded menus. The Local Market, located where the gift shop used to be, will be an “all-day hot spot” with great coffee and several menu items to help fight off hunger.

Bucky’s Lounge, a staple of the Grand property, has also received several upgrades, including a new courtyard complete with updated landscaping and fire pits for people to enjoy.

Following the completion of all of the renovations, the Grand will become part of the Autograph Collection hotel brand and be renamed as the Grand Hotel Resort and Spa. According to hotel officials, the Autograph Collection properties are “high end and remarkably independent while still benefitting from Marriott’s expertise.” The transition date to that status is slated to be August 1.

In addition to the renovations and remodel, the Grand Hotel is also looking to hire more than 140 people from various jobs throughout the property.
