Inmate escapes from Loxley Work Release

LOXLEY, Alabama — An inmate reportedly escaped from the Loxley Community Based Facility/Community Work Center early Wednesday morning.

According to a release issued Wednesday by the Alabama Department of Corrections, 57-year-old Clifton Debales Lang was reported missing by Lt. Hayward Riley at approximately 5:10 a.m. Wednesday from the facility in Loxley.

Lang is described as a white male, 5-foot-7, 169 pounds with brown hair (basically shaved) and hazel eyes.

According to information obtained online, Lang has a long history of convictions with the Alabama Department of Corrections dating back to 1983, when he was sentenced in Mobile County to 20 years for first degree robbery and two consecutive five-year sentences for second degree receiving stolen property.

He was convicted in 1988 on second degree escape charges out of Escambia County with an additional 16-year sentence, then sentenced to 15 years in Mobile County on third-degree burglary charges.

In 2006, he was sentenced to 99 years, 99 months and 99 days for two counts, first degree attempted burglary; two counts, third degree burglary, and one count possession of a controlled substance and one count unlawful breaking and entering of a vehicle.

In 2018, he was convicted and sentenced to 15 years (concurrent) for two counts of breaking and entering of a vehicle
