Bay Minette native Kirk Jay is just two steps away from winning season 15 on The Voice, advancing to the top 8 semifinals Tuesday night.

Once again, fans did not have to wait long as Jay was announced as the first person to move on to the live semi-finals, which will air beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10 locally on WPMI NBC 15, followed by a final elimination on Tuesday, Dec. 11 before the finals, which begin airing on Monday, Dec. 17.

Jay, who performed Chris Young’s “Tomorrow,” joins fellow country crooner Chris Kroeze in the semi-finals. Kroeze took on Garth Brooks with a performance of “Callin’ Baton Rouge” on Monday.

After remaining unscathed for the first two weeks of eliminations, Team Blake’s Dave Fenley, who performed Keith Whitley’s “When You Say Nothing At All” on Monday (also made popular by Allison Kraus and Union Station) was eliminated during Tuesday night’s instant save after performing Lonestar’s “Amazed.”

Reagan Strange, who was unable to perform in Tuesday night’s Instant Save, advanced to the semi-finals following an emotional plea from her coach Adam Levine. She performed Faith Hill’s “Cry” on Monday night.

Team Adam’s DeAndre Nico, who performed, Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like” on Monday, and John Legend’s “All of Me,” was also eliminated from the competition.

All of the remaining members of Team Jennifer, MaKenzie Thomas and Kennedy Holmes, and Team Kelly, Chevel Sheperd, Sarah Grace and Kymberli Joye, advanced to the top 8 semi-finals on Tuesday.
