DAPHNE, Ala. -- Daphne High School Principal, Dr. Meredith Foster and Athletic Director, Kenny King have selected Drew Lee to be the interim head softball coach for the 2019 season.

“We are very excited to have coach Lee step in and take on this new position,” according to the press release Jan. 11. “He understands softball and more importantly, he understands Daphne Softball.”

Coach Lee has been an assistant coach at DHS under previous head coach, Lawrence Yelding, for the past two seasons with a record of 98-23.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to lead the Daphne softball program this season,” Lee said. “We are all so proud of coach Yelding getting the chance to be a head football coach, and we know he’ll do great things at BC Rain. I am thankful that I was able to learn under his leadership these last two years, and I appreciate Dr. Foster and Coach King giving me this opportunity.”

Lee also was the head softball coach at Dale County High, where he led the team to their first Area Championship and Regional victory. He graduated from The University of Alabama in 2013 with a B.A. in Physical Education. He currently teaches Physical Education at Daphne Elementary School and is married to Daphne High School social worker, Lindsey Lee.

Softball practice starts Jan. 28 and the Lady Trojans first game is set for Feb. 19 at Theodore.
