ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — Artwork by Robertsdale High School senior Tony Rodriguez will be featured on the program cover for the 18th Annual PCA Championship Rodeo, presented by the Robertsdale Rotary Club and the Robertsdale Rotary Foundation as part of the Ram Rodeo Series Friday and Saturday, March 10 and 11 at the Baldwin County Fairgrounds Arena in Robersdale.

For the fifth year, the rotary club held a cover art contest with Rodriguez being selected from among dozens of entries. He received a cash prize and complimentary tickets to the rodeo.

Students from throughout Central Baldwin County submitted artwork for the contest. Honorable mention winners will also receive recognition inside the program and tickets to the rodeo.

Five additional RHS students received honorable mention prizes for the art contest, including Rodriguez’s twin brother, Magdiel, along with junior Sydney Davies; sophomores Ashanti McCall and Savannah Lee; and freshman Dixie Chaney.

Students from Rosinton, Elsanor and Loxley elementary schools also received honorable mention prizes, including:

Students from local schools will be treated to a sampling of rodeo events. It will also see the return of last year’s rodeo halftime entertainment, The Rawhide-n-Dusty Show & James Boys Wild and Western Entertainment.

Rodeo organizers and this year’s Rodeo clown will also be touring schools once again on Thursday, March 9 to help promote the rodeo.

Rodeo participants will also once again get the opportunity to win a Henry Golden Boy Long Colt .45 rifle, courtesy of Campbell Hardware. Raffle tickets are being sold through Rotary Club members or during the event. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and a drawing will be held Saturday night.

Local students are also invited to participate in the annual coloring contest, presented this year by Bryant Bank. One girls’ and one boys’ bicycle, donated by Walmart, will be given away each night during the rodeo.

The event is produced by Bo Campbell Rodeo and is part of the Ram Rodeo Series. Presenting sponsor is Baldwin EMC. Other major sponsors include Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Dodge Ram and Chuck Stevens Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Bay Minette. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Robertsdale Rotary Foundation.

One of those groups is the William F. Green Veterans Home. Residents from the Veterans Home will be honored during halftime festivities Friday night.
