Robertsdale teen charged in shooting

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — A Robertsdale teen is facing numerous charges in the shooting of his aunt early Monday morning.

Preston Northan, 18, of Robertsdale has been charged with first degree robbery, second degree assault and reckless endangerment after investigators with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office say he admitted to shooting his aunt on Newport Road.

According to a BCSO release issued Monday, at around 6 a.m. Monday, Baldwin County 911 received a call of a person shot at the residence. Deputies responded to the scene and located an adult female who had been shot several times in the leg and hip. The victim was transported to a hospital in Pensacola with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim’s is currently in stable condition, according to the release.

A juvenile female and a small child were inside the residence when the shooting occurred. The small child was in the bed with the female victim when the shooting occurred, according to the release. The juvenile female and the small child were not injured.

Northan was identified as a person of interest in the case, located and interviewed, After several hours, investigators say Northan admitted to shooting the victim. It appears the motive for the shooting was robbery.
