MAGNOLIA SPRINGS, Alabama — St Paul’s Episcopal Chapel of Magnolia Springs invites all pet owners and animal lovers to a Blessing of the Pets service on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. The event will be held outdoors in the courtyard between the historic chapel and the Magnolia Springs Community Center. Ample parking is available behind the church.

Blessing of the Pets is an annual celebration by churches of all faiths. The event coincides with St. Francis Day (officially Oct. 4) and commemorates Francis of Assisi, an 11th-century Italian friar whose love of nature and animals immortalized him as the patron saint of animals.

Each pet will be blessed individually by the Rev. Eric Zubler and Deacon Susan McKee. If your pet is too skittish, large, etc. to physically attend, you can bring a photo.

“All animals and humans are welcome,” Zubler said. “We’re asking that people bring a bag or box of canned pet food for our donation to the Stray Love Foundation for pet rescue.”

Stray Love specializes in cats but also welcomes dogs in need. Learn more at https://straylovefoundation.org.
