BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A Bay Minette man is facing murder charges after police say he shot his brother-in-law on his front lawn.
Kaleem Sabree Reed, 25, is being charged with murder and is jail on a $100,000 bond.
According to a release from the Bay Minette Police Department, officers responded to a call of gun shots at approximately 11:23 p.m. Tuesday at a home on Bibb Street in Bay Minette. The address matches that of Reed’s home address listed on his arrest record.
Upon arrival, according to the release, officers found a subject lying in the yard with a gunshot wound. The subject was transported to North Baldwin Infirmary where he was later pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as Cory Shoemore, 27, the suspect’s brother-in-law.
“We do know that the victim and (the suspect) were involved in an argument, based on text we’ve obtained (through social media),” said Cpl. Robert Gates, investigator with the Bay Minette PD. “Apparently the argument escalated and the victim went over to the (suspect’s) home, where the altercation became physical and the victim was eventually shot.”
Bay Minette Police are conducting an ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.

Submitted release from the Bay Minette Police Department with additional reporting by Onlooker co-editor John Underwood.
