Benefit for Easton Carraway at Foley Fire Station No. 1

Posted

On April 1st, make plans to spend the day at Foley Fire Station No. 1, across from Max Griffin Park, enjoy a fish plate, music and family activities to benefit Easton Carraway, a toddler recently diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.

Easton Carraway is the son of Foley firefighter Cody Carraway and Kahlee Salter. The family received news that little Easton has a 9.5-by-5 cm. tumor in his pelvic area.

“This happened very quickly as far as diagnosis,” explained Foley Fire Chief Joey Darby. “The family went straight from USA to St. Jude. They’ve been at St. Jude for several weeks undergoing treatment and tests. As you can imagine, there are a number of expenses that occur here at home, and when you have to drop everything and leave, there’s a huge burden on the family.”

The benefit for Easton Carraway will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire station on West Verbena Avenue and also across the street at Max Griffin Park. Fried fish plates will be available for $10, including sides. Pre-orders are encouraged and delivery will be available for orders over 10 plates.

Inflatables will be on site, as well as snow cones, fire truck displays, a silent auction and a bake sale. All donations will be used to assist Cody Carraway and his family with many unforeseeable expenses.

There is a GoFundMe account set up for Easton: GoFundMe.com/Eastons-Fight-Against-Cancer. The goal of $25,000 was reached in just 10 days, but the family could be at St. Jude for a full year, according to the site. Chief Darby also explained there is an account set up for Easton at Regions Bank.

“You can donate to this account by visiting any Regions Bank and expressing you want to donate to the account, ‘For Easton Carraway’ (account No. 0247514787),” Darby said.

The plan is to sign the account over to Cody when he returns to pay for any travel, medical or other expenses the family may incur. For other ways to help the family or other fundraisers, check the Foley Fire Department Facebook page.
