SUMMERDALE — Baldwin County officials are in the process of having a Mississippi man brought back to the state on attempted murder charges after they say he stabbed a Summerdale woman multiple times early Wednesday morning, then fled to his parents’ home in Biloxi.

Capt. Steven Arthur, chief investigator with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, said deputies received the call at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at a home on County Road 38 in Summerdale.

Byron Miller, 26, was accused of stabbing 21-year-old Destiny Miller, identified as his ex-girlfriend/wife, multiple times in the neck, chest and torso, outside the home where she lives with her father and child. Byron Miller is being identified as the baby’s father.

Arthur said Byron Miller arrived at the home in the a short time before BCSO deputies were called, the two got into an argument. Byron Miller allegedly stabbed Destiny Miller outside the home and fled the scene in a silver Mercury Grand Marquis.

Byron Miller was later found at his parents’ home in Biloxi, Mississippi. After leading Biloxi police on a short high-speed chase, Miller crashed the car and was arrested without further incident, Arthur said.

According to online records, Miller was booked into the Harrison County, Mississippi, jail facility at 3:13 p.m. on Wednesday, charged with failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle and attempted murder.

“We are doing everything in our power to bring him back to Alabama to face charges here,” Arthur said.

Records show that Miller was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility in March on charges of third degree theft of property and carrying brass knuckles/slingshot. He was released on a $500 bond.

Miller has a record in Harrison County, Mississippi, dating back to June of 2011 when he was arrested on domestic violence and malicious mischief charges.

He served just over 11 months for stalking, making threatening/harassing phone calls, electronic communication/obscene, simple assault and simple assault of a police officer from June of 2012 to May of 2013 and served a year in prison from March of 2014 to March of 2015 on distribution of a controlled substance and prescription forgery charges, along with obstruction of justice charges, which included attempting to intimidate a judge, juror or witness.

His last arrest in Harrison County was in May of this year, charged by the D’Iberville Police Department with simple domestic violence, simple assault, felony shoplifting, and possession of a weapon by a felon. He was released July 25.

According to Arthur, he was accused of stabbing Destiny Miller in Biloxi about a year ago.

Destiny Miller was transported to USA Medical Center in Mobile where she underwent surgery Wednesday night and is currently in intensive care, recovering from her injuries.

“We don’t know anything else about her condition at this time,” Arthur said.
