Christmas Day on the Island

Mother Nature gave the Gulf Coast a wonderful Christmas gift of warm temperatures and sunny skies this year. Long time residents and visitors were out in full force enjoying every moment.

The Cobb Theatre in Gulf Shores and AMC Classic in Orange Beach were both filled with movie goers enjoying new releases.

At the Gulf Place Town Green and Public Beach the sand was more crowded than I had anticipated. Ansley and Rayley King were testing out their new scooters while their brother Bentley was in a hurry to get to the beach.

each comber Marie McColgan was searching the beach for treasure. McColgan and her partner are from the Chicago area and enjoy escaping the winter weather in Gulf Shores.

Many people were enjoying the sun while their families built sandcastles and splashed in the water and a few brave souls could be seen swimming. The National Centers for Environmental Information report the current water temperatures around 57 degrees.

Ross Roecker of Gulf Shores was dressed head to toe in Christmas attire and was hard to miss as he spread Christmas cheer.

Roecker’s home on West 1st Avenue was also dressed for the holiday season. Inflatables, lights and a cozy fire filled the yard. It looks great during the day, but I am sure it looks even better at night when you can see the laser lights. If you missed the display this year be sure to drive by next year.
