Continuing Excellence Program offers enrichment for residents

The City of Orange Beach’s Continuing Excellence Program released the winter and spring 2021 schedule and it is packed with opportunities. The program offers a variety of free workshops, classes and events for adults in the community. The offerings vary from creative writing and beginner Portuguese to salsa and line dancing.

The BioBlitz workshop is offered every second Saturday of the month. Participants explore the natural wonders of Orange Beach and use the iNaturalist app to take photos of plants, insects and animals and collect data. Researchers use the data collected in the app to identify the flora and fauna in the local area. The provided data is used for a variety of research projects as well.

The winter and spring 2021 schedule offer classes in:

Beginner Portuguese, French and Spanish

Adult dance class – ballet, jazz and tap

Latin dance – Salsa, Merengue, Bachata

Adult theater dance

Line dancing

World cultures

Beginner music workshop

OB Jesters – Improve and sketch comedy troupe

Most classes are held at the Orange Beach Recreation Center. This year some of the foreign language classes are virtual. For more information, class descriptions or to register for classes visit www.orangebeachal.gov/events.
