LOXLEY, Alabama — A Florida man is in jail on drug trafficking charges after deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department say they found nearly 100 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle following a routine traffic stop on Interstate 10 near Loxley on Wednesday.
According to reports, Daniel Joseph Oehl, 45, of Fort Pierce, Florida, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 Wednesday when he was stopped for a routine traffic violation.
With the help of a canine officer called to the scene, deputies say they found approximately 100 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle, along with several grams of LSD oil.
According to published reports, Sheriff Huey “Hoss” Mack told reporters it was believed that the drugs, which were found in more than 70 individually bagged packages with a street value of close to $1 million, was being transported from Phoenix, Arizona, headed to Florida.
According to Baldwin County Department of Corrections records, Oehl was booked into the Corrections Facility at around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, charged with two counts of drug trafficking. Each count carries a $300,000 bond.
