PERDIDO, Alabama — No one was injured when shots were reportedly fired Tuesday, Aug. 22 at an occupied BRATS bus in Perdido.

According to a release issued Wednesday by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at noon on Tuesday to Dyaz Court in Perdido, in reference to a man firing two shots at an occupied BRATS bus as a passenger was attempting to exit the bus.

No one was struck by the fired shots. The man reportedly retreated into his home and refused to respond to phone calls from the responding deputies.

“It was discovered that there was at least one additional person inside the residence with the male suspect and their physical wellbeing was undetermined,” according to the release.

As the incident continued the suspect was identified as 74-year-old James Feola. It was also reported that Feola had recently called DHR and made threats to “shoot the place up if he didn’t receive his food stamps.”

The Baldwin County SWAT Team responded along with Sheriff Department Negotiators. After calling for Feola to surrender via a loud speaker, Feola was apprehended as he attempted to escape from the rear of the residence.

Feola was arrested and charged with two counts of reckless endangerment and placed under a no bond at the Baldwin County Corrections Center while awaiting a probate hearing.
