Opportunities overflow for business owners in Baldwin County

Opportunities Abound! Did you miss the opportunity to attend the United Nations Ambassador of the Arts, Ibyinka Alao’s Seminar this week? You will not want to miss the finale of his Baldwin County residency tomorrow evening, November 9, 6 – 8 p.m., Gulf Shores Cultural Center on County Road 6.

This is a free event, open to the public and seating is on a first come basis. The arts play a huge part in developing economic opportunities while increasing the quality of life of our county. In August a “Shark Tank” type of TV program for Alabama’ entrepreneurs debuted on ABC. It presents an opportunity for Alabama’s entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas to Alabama investors. This business pitch show is called “Alabama Upstarts” and it is filming multiple episodes in Mobile tomorrow.

Pilot and previous episodes can be viewed online to see ideas from onsite gas delivery to automatic brake light manufacturing. Are you interested in being a contestant on future shows? The application is available at www.alabama-upstarts.com . In this application a business plan complete with financials is required. Do you need a professional to review your business plan? This may be an opportunity for you to utilize the no cost services of the Alabama SBDC at www.alabamasbdc.org/register which is building Baldwin County’s and Alabama’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Another way the Alabama SBDC is providing opportunities to Baldwin County’s entrepreneurs is by teaming up with the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber to provide a business workshop entitled “Kick off Your New Business!” which is Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Chamber office in Gulf Shores. Pre-Registration is required at https://asbdc.ecenterdirect.com/events/8295 .

This is for those wanting to learn more about structuring a business, setting it up in Baldwin County and how to access financing options for their new business. Do you have the information you need about Opportunity Zones? The U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) now has a website for Opportunity Zone information. It is: https://eda.gov/opportunity-zones/?utm_content=&utm_medium=email&utm_name=&utm_source=govdelivery&utm_term=

Truly Baldwin County’s bounty includes opportunities for economic growth and an entrepreneurial ecosystem structured for success.
