Stillman's Rafael Adams named A.I.I. Player of the Week

TUSCALOOSA — Stillman College senior Rafael Adams was named the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Jan. 15. It is his first career A.I.I. Player of the Week honor.

Adams, a 6-foot-10 forward from Foley, Ala., averaged 18.3 points and 13.3 rebounds while leading 17th-ranked Stillman (16-3) to a 3-0 week, Jan. 8-14. He shot 56.8 percent (25-of-44) from the floor during the three games and 80 percent from the free throw line, while adding 11 assists, eight blocked shots and four steals.

He scored 29 points and added 16 rebounds on Jan. 11 in an 89-71 win at home over Voorhees College (S.C.). He also had a season-high five assists in the win, which all came in the first half.

Over the weekend at the Oakwood University MLK Classic, Adams added 18 points, 16 rebounds, four assists and three blocks in a 66-51 win at Oakwood (Ala.) on Jan. 13 and had eight points, nine rebounds, two assists and three blocks in an 87-63 win over Washington Adventist University (Md.) on Jan. 14.

Adams is currently ranked No. 8 in NAIA Division II for total rebounds per game (10.11) and defensive rebounds per game (7.11).

Stillman (16-3) is now on a five-game win streak after another big win (119-69) over Barber-Scotia College to sweep the Oakwood University MLK Classic.
