SUMMERDALE, Alabama — Twin brothers will face sentencing Dec. 3 on manslaughter and domestic violence charges, two years to the day after they were arrested in connection with the death of their mother’s fiancé, who was found near his home in Summerdale.

According to information provided by the Baldwin County District Attorney’s office, Brady Bruce Willis, now 30, was found guilty on charges of manslaughter on Oct. 22 in connection with the death of 45-year-old Walter David “Davey” Powers II of Summerdale.

His brother, Aaron Alan Willis, also 30, was also arrested and charged with manslaughter, second degree assault, third degree domestic violence (harassment), domestic violence (strangulation), and a probation violation. Records show Aaron Willis was released on Feb. 11, 2019 but was booked again July 19, 2019 on charges of manslaughter/reckless, and a detainer for hold from Spanish Fort.

Brady Willis was also convicted of second-degree domestic violence charges after officials say he attacked his mother, identified at the time as Powers’ fiancée, with a weapon as she was trying to stop the brothers from killing Powers.

Aaron Willis pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges on an unspecified date, according to the DA’s office. Both will face sentencing before Judge Jody Bishop on Dec. 3.

According to a release issued in 2018 by the Summerdale Police Department, fire, EMS and officers with the Summerdale Police Department responded to a home Dec. 3, 2018 on County Road 83 in Summerdale for what was initially reported as a medical call.

The call was found to be an act of domestic violence that ended with one person dead and another injured, according to the release. Powers was found dead outside his residence.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office was called in to assist in the investigation and was able to locate the Willis brothers as persons of interest in the case. Both were arrested and booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility later that day.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that, overnight, two subjects related to the female victim physically assaulted both the injured parties,” according to release. “It is not believed that there are any immediate concerns to the public, as this appears to be a severe incident of domestic violence limited to the residents of this address.”

While both men have addresses in Gulf Shores, it was reported at the time that investigators believed all four of the individuals lived at the address.

The case was investigated by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s office, led by Sgt. Andrew Ashton and Crime Scene Investigator Cassandra Linville, according to the post. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Katy Sipper and Patrick Doggett.
