Gulf Shores Police Department officers were called to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle from the 2nd Street beach access on West Beach Boulevard at approximately 3:40 p.m. May 7.

After enjoying a day at the beach with her family, the victim returned to the parking area and discovered her vehicle was gone.

During the investigation, it was revealed the victim’s keys were misplaced and picked up by one of the two suspects. The two suspects returned to their vehicle, a late model Toyota Corolla. The couple cruised the parking lot until locating the vehicle the keys belonged to. The white female suspect entered the Hyundai and drove away with the Toyota following.

With the assistance of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Mobile Police Department, and Robertsdale Police Department, the suspects were positively identified as:

  • Jereiki Emory Edwards, 42
  • Kimberly Kay Smith, 42

Both Edwards and Smith were taken into custody without incident at their residence in Robertsdale May 12. Both have been charged with Theft of property first degree. At the time of this report, the Hyundai had not been located.
