William A.T. Smith (Bill), beloved husband for 57 years to Elizabeth Ann Smith (Betty), passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2018 at the age of 92.
Bill was born in Park Mills, Maryland on May 8, 1926 to Charles and Kathryn Smith, who preceded him in death. He had a brother, Charles Jr., also deceased.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy until May 1946 and then went on to a successful career in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry eventually owning his own company in Baltimore, Maryland.
He married Betty on October 8, 1960 and they had one son, Charles Kenneth Smith. Bill also had two children from a prior marriage, William and Ruth Ann.
Bill is survived by his wife, children and several grandchildren.
Bill and Betty enjoyed traveling the country in their motor coach, eventually retiring to the Gulf Coast of Alabama.
He was an active member of the Masons for over 30 years, serving as Worshipful Master of the Lillian Lodge in Lillian, Alabama in 2003.
Bill lived a long and full life. He had a quick wit, and incredible memory and a generous soul. These are the qualities we will miss most but are also the things that we will remember forever.
