William E. Baldwin, 80, a native of Laurens, South Carolina and a longtime resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

Mr. Baldwin was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of the 908 Troop Carrier Squadron at Bates Field. Bill owned and operated Fairhope Hardware and the Harbor Shop since 1973.

He was past president of Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce and past vice president and director of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation. He was also a past president of the Fairhope Rotary Club. He was involved in many other civic organizations.

Bill was respected and loved by everyone who knew him. He will be missed by many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Nadine Baldwin.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Betty Ann Baldwin; one daughter, Holly Ann Baldwin Freeman (James) of Junction City, Arkansas; three sons, William Bradford Baldwin, James Anthony Baldwin, Wade Bentley Baldwin (Michelle); one stepson, Paul David Hatfield (Naomi), all of Fairhope; one brother, James Ardis Baldwin (Dorothy) of Laurens, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Hayden Douglas, Matthew Ryan, Zachary Paul, Justin Daniel, Riley Ann, William Clayton, Lawson Nadine; one great-grandson due in July; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, Sunday, March 26, 2017, from 5 until 7 p.m., with rosary at 6 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Monday, March 27, 2017 at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow in Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
