BAY MINETTE, Alabama — The Alabama Power Foundation awarded the Good Roots Grant to the City of Bay Minette. Tripp Ward made the presentation to Mayor Bob Wills during a recent council meeting.

Good Roots grants are a partnership with the Alabama Urban Forestry Association and the Alabama Forestry Commission.

Across the state, Alabama Power Foundation awarded 41 Good Roots grants to help in planting trees that benefit the environment, support recreation and help with economic development efforts.

In Bay Minette, the grant was used to plant trees downtown along part of South Hand Avenue.

To date, the Foundation has awarded more than $600,000 in Good Root grants, benefiting hundreds of cities, counties, towns and nonprofit organizations.
