Carol Margaret DiOrio

Carol Margaret DiOrio passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the age of 70, after a heroic battle with cancer.

Ms. DiOrio was born on Dec. 9, 1947 in Troy, New York, the daughter of Harold and Emma Brown. She grew up in New Paltz, New York and subsequently resided in the Hudson Valley and Adirondack Mountain regions of New York.

For years, Ms. DiOrio was a dedicated coordinator who placed and supported high school foreign exchange students. She loved travelling and learning the history and culture of other nations.

For the past 11 years, Ms. DiOrio made her home in Foley, Alabama, and was a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Legion of Mary, floral committee and ladies' group.

She was committed to many social causes and was a tireless fundraiser for several organizations, including Family Promise of Baldwin County. Ms. DiOrio also enjoyed attending meetings of the local (Elberta) Red Hat Society, and had many friends and relations, both locally and nationally, who gave her immense joy.

Ms. DiOrio is survived by two children, Leah DiOrio (Steve Marti) and Joseph DiOrio (Melissa); and three grandchildren, of whom she thought the world, Joey and Dominic DiOrio, and Anthony Kendrick. She is also survived by many cousins and extended family.

Ms. DiOrio was preceded in death by her parents; and husband of 48 years, Joseph William DiOrio.
