Central Baldwin Chamber hosts Shop Small Saturday Dec. 2

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce is encouraging residents throughout the area to “shop small” on Saturday, Dec. 2.

“Really and truly the main goal of the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce is to promote our local businesses,” said Jonathan Kitchens, Central Baldwin Chamber Board president. “We decided that several folks are going to be in the area that day for the Honeybee Festival, Christmas in the Park and the annual Christmas Parade, so we are giving them a reason to spend the whole day in the area and get some good bargains from some of our local merchants.”

While Small Business Saturday is a nationwide promotion generally held on the Saturday after thanksgiving, which this year falls on Nov. 25, Kitchens said the Chamber decided to move their Shop Small event back a week to allow residents to focus more on local merchants.

“We feel that there is just so much going on right after Thanksgiving, that by moving it back a week, we can encourage people to ‘Live Life Local’ and support our local businesses who support the communities throughout the year,” Kitchens said.

The event is being promoted through social media on the Central Baldwin Chamber’s Facebook page and website. Chamber members have also been getting email alerts beginning in November to help promote the event.
