Charles Coulter Allen Sr., age 82, born in Troy, Alabama and longtime resident of Fairhope, passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2018.

He served from the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1962 and then retired from the Army National Guard in 1996 with a total of 27 years of military service.

Charles left the U.S. Air Force in 1962 and opened his first television repair store in Fairhope, which over the years he grew to the well-known Charlie Allen's Video, the first movie rental store in Baldwin County.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, JC and Ruby Allen; and three sisters, Francis Sparks, Dorothy Lanahan and Ann Kralik.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Allen; his children, Andrea Niblett (Randy), Leslie Allen, Charles Coulter Allen Jr. (Amy), Saundra Allen, Rachael Boland (Brad) and Bevan White; as well as his sister, Louise Henderson; and four brothers, Willy Allen, Ray Allen, Junior Allen and Arthur Allen; as well as 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until time of service.

Interment will be in the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort at 2:30 p.m.
