Darrell Clark Houser died on March 24, 2021 at the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, in Foley, Alabama.

He was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota on October 14, 1936 to Newton Vern and Clara Evelyn (Allen) Houser. His family lived in several places in North Dakota along the Great Northern Railroad “highline”, as Newton was a section gang foreman. Darrell graduated from Rugby High School in 1954. He joined the Air Force and was stationed in Montgomery, Alabama at Maxwell Air Force base. He then attended the University of North Dakota. During the summers, while attending college, he worked on the Alaska Railroad and graduated in 1962. He went to work for Weyerhaeuser and moved to Tacoma, Washington. He married Eileen Williams, June 1963 in Bellevue, Washington.

Soon after, he went to work for US Army Audit Agency. In 1968 one of his audits took him to Viet Nam. Other audits found him in many places around the country and the world. In 1970 he was transferred to Tucker, Georgia (a suburb of Atlanta). After Eileen died in August 1973, he married Beverly Rockwood, March 1974 in Dekalb County, Georgia. Beverly died in December 1981. Upon retirement, he moved to the North Georgia Mountains and later to Gulf Shores, Alabama. He is fondly remembered for a lifelong passion for sports, travel, and music. He is survived by his children: David Houser, Quail Valley, California; Susan Sawyer, Lawrenceville, Georgia; Teri Howard, Norcross, Georgia; David (Rocky) Clark, Spring, Texas; Jim Clark, Lawrenceville, Georgia; Shannon Whitworth, Murphy, North Carolina; and Scott Houser, Snellville, Georgia. He also leaves twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, his sister Verna Crook and an infant sister, Patricia, who died in 1935. Memorial services to be held on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at 2:00 pm via Zoom, from Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Pastor Robert Mitchell will officiate.
