David Jack Ramey

David Jack Ramey, 82, lost his battle with ALS, October 10th, 2020. He was a Marine who proudly served in Japan and the Philippines from 1956-1958. He worked for a hospital and attended Marshall University following his time overseas. After serving in the military, David started working with Medline as a sales representative where he later retired after 40 years. Most of all, David was a lover of the Lord and of his large family. David Ramey enjoyed volunteering at the train depot in Foley, and spending time with his train buddies in the caboose club. He was a sport enthusiast who enjoyed spending time at his kids’ and grandkids’ ballgames. He was also die-hard Auburn fan, who shouted “War Eagle!” any chance he could get. He and his wife Sherry loved vacationing in North Carolina. David had the ability to make every person in the room feel special even in the crowd of his large family. He always knew how to make you laugh, and he was the greatest cheerleader of all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Ramey and his children, Michael Carter(Susan), Shelley Podgurski (Dwayne), Dawn Rochester (Eric), David Tad Ramey (Kathy); sisters and brother; Evelyn Hedman, Ella Mullins, Norma Hanna, and Gary Ramey; grandchildren, Jimmy Cleary, Kristin Grimes(Victor), Tracey Heyer (Jake), Landon Benton (Jennifer), Paige Carter (Mark), Loryn Benton Doyle (Ronnie), Lyndsey Collier (Darrel), Garrett Carter (Justine), Josey Rochester, Emily Crowson (Thomas), Joshua Ramey, Caleb Ramey, and Jayce Ramey; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Leah Heyer, Peyton, Ryleigh, and Easton Cleary, Caeden Benton, Bryce and Benton Doyle, Grayson and Rune Collier, Carter and Myla Grimes, Landon Josey and Ryan Richards; many nieces and nephews.
