DayBreak Senior Daycare celebrates Mardi Gras with TOI

Posted

The seniors at DayBreak Senior Daycare were thrilled to be visited by members of the Treasures of the Isle (TOI) as the krewe made its annual Goodwill Mardi Gras Tour. The Goodwill Tour aims to provide a special Mardi Gras celebration for those in our community who may not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy this holiday. Everyone had a great time and all the seniors received gifts. Pictured here, enjoying the reverie of the Mardi Gras celebration are the costumed krewe from TOI and the participants of DayBreak.

DayBreak Senior Daycare provides a secure, loving environment where individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia are encouraged to participate in playing games, craft projects, singing, exercising and social interaction. The senior daycare provides participants’ fulltime caregiver with short term relief from the unrelenting demands of care giving by providing time out to grocery shop, attend support groups, or visit friends and family.

All DayBreak Senior Daycare participants must be pre-registered. The program is not designed to provide medical or counseling services but to provide support for the caregivers and their loved ones. It is offered every Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is located in Building B on the South Campus of Gulf Shores United Methodist Church. Cost is $20 per visit and includes a hot lunch. For more information about DayBreak please contact Marianne Hawkins at 251-752-1849 (jhhmsh@gulftel.com) or Amelia Fletcher at 251-968-2411 (amelia@gulfshoresumc.org).
