Foley High School JROTC hosts Veterans Day Program

Posted

The Foley High School’s JROTC participated in a Veterans Day Program at the school on Thursday, Nov. 8. The event began at 7:30 a.m. with a free breakfast for veterans. Following at 8:30 a.m., a special assembly was performed in honor of the veterans. During the event, veterans were treated to the JROTC students conducting the Presentation of Colors, the National Anthem and Homeward Bound performed by the choir, a solo performance by Haley Johnson, the Patriotic Melody performed by the Mighty Band from Lion Land, and a poem reading by C/SMSgt Kristina Bice which accompanied C/Capt Noel Appleton and C/2nd Lt Chris Wolff as they conducted the Folding Ceremony. Guest speak for the day was Major General Janet Cobb, who spoke to the crowd both of the past and the accomplishments of the attending veterans, as well as the future and where AL. 791st Squadron and all their fellow students would lead.

Recently, Foley High’s JROTC was recognized as Commemorative Partner with The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration. To that degree, the JROTC placed a special mention towards all Vietnam veterans who attended the event, presenting them with a Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin.
