Golf Classic returns to benefit Baldwin County public schools

Posted

SUMMERDALE, Ala. – The eighth annual Baldwin County Education Coalition Golf Classic, presented by Baldwin County Sewer Service (BCSS), returns on September 10, 2020, at Rock Creek Golf Club in Fairhope. Registration and lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. The golf tournament benefits Baldwin County Education Coalition and serves as the organization’s key fundraiser.

Players will enjoy complimentary lunch, dinner and beverages. A $10,000 grand prize will be awarded to the golfer who achieves a hole-in-one, along with exceptional prizes for the top three teams. The sponsorship deadline to receive full benefits is August 31, 2020.

“The Coalition has made a significant impact since being formed by the county’s seven education enrichment foundations. These organizations came together 10 years ago with a commitment to work collectively on education issues that impact every child,” explained Terry Burkle, executive director of the Coalition. “One Voice. Every Child remains our motto today.”

Burkle says the Coalition’s work would not be possible without the generous support of the business community at the annual Golf Classic, which is Coalition’s primary fundraiser.

“Baldwin County Sewer Service is proud to host this event to create awareness and support for the work of the Coalition,” said Jenny Williams, communications and marketing director, BCSS.”

“While we are excited to have everyone come together for a great cause, precautions will be taken to help protect all participants,” said Burkle.

Rock Creek Golf Club has been and will continue to follow all recommended guidelines and utilize tools for health considerations and operating. Specific instructions will be provided closer to the event date.

Proceeds from the annual Golf Classic have helped strengthen the Coalition’s programs and services. The Coalition’s core business is to mobilize resources and increase the level of support for Baldwin County Public Schools. As a rapidly growing school system with limited district funds and a desire for Baldwin County schools to secure its place at the top for student achievement, these schools depend on the support of community partners to accomplish their academic priorities.
