Man charged with attempted murder in stabbing

BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A man is being charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of a Brewton man Wednesday at the Log Cabin Inn in Bay Minette.

Phillip Dennis, 46, who is listed on the Baldwin County Correction Center website as homeless, was booked into the facility at 2:56 a.m. Wednesday on an attempted murder charge, which carries a $500,000 bond. He faces additional charges of failure to appear ($262 bond) and driving while suspended ($300 bond) with the Bay Minette Police Department.

He is being held on a no bond as a detainer for with the Gulf Shores Police Department, Community Corrections and Loxley Police Department.

According to a BMPD release issued Thursday, officers were called to the Log Cabin Inn on U.S. 31 Wednesday in reference to an assault with a knife call.

Once there officers located a man, identified as Daryl Vinson Graves of Brewton, with multiple cuts on his body. He was taken to North Baldwin Infirmary and later taken to Sacred Heart Hospital for treatment. Graves is still recovering from his injuries, according to the release.
