Milton man facing manslaughter charge after passenger dies in crash on I-10

WILCOX, Alabama — A Milton, Florida, man is facing manslaughter charges in the death of a Pensacola woman, who was killed after being ejected following a single-vehicle crash in the early morning hours Wednesday, May 27 on Interstate 10 in Baldwin County.

According to the Baldwin County Corrections Facility website, Andrew Hunter Richey, 25, of Milton, Florida, was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Center Thursday on felony charges of manslaughter/reckless. He is in jail on a $30,000 bond.

According to a release issued Wednesday by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Richey was driving a 2013 Dodge Dart traveling west on Interstate 10, when at approximately 1:15 a.m. when, for reasons as yet unexplained, he left the roadway at the 53-mile marker, which is near the Wilcox Exit, and struck a tree.

The passenger in the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Brittany Johnson Hans of Pensacola, was reportedly ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the release.

ALEA Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
