Halloween comes early at OWA

FOLEY – Looking for a place where everyone can have a good time this Halloween, whether you’re a diehard horror fan looking to scream or a parent with little ones searching for the treats? Look no further than OWA, the location where you can find all your Halloween needs.

You start by coming to the entrance to one of the most frightening experiences you can find in Baldwin County this season, OWA’s Town of Terror. The haunted house attraction is brought on by a partnership between OWA and Fairhope’s Nightmare Chambers, who have moved their operations to Foley and created an experience unlike any other.

The attraction is not for the faint-of-heart, and can take between 20-30 minutes to fully experience, depending on if you take the trip walking, or running. The indoor haunted house is filled with narrow corridors and twists and turns. With the lights out and only ambiance lighting to guide you, it doesn’t take long to get a rising sense of terror as guests try to navigate the building, all the while knowing they are not alone. The attraction is filled with dolls, escaped asylum patients, clowns, and more, all waiting for those brave enough to take a stroll through the town. There are multiple areas inside the Town of Terror, each with different themes so that guests get a new experience, and fright, with each turn.

The Town of Terror is open Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m.-midnight.

Feeling extra brave? Then come to the Town of Terror on Thursdays or Sundays from 6-9 p.m., when the attraction hosts special Flashlight Nights. On these nights, all the lights inside the attraction will be shut off and the town will be cast into complete darkness. The only thing to guide you through the maze? A single flashlight (only one is allowed per group, and all flashlights are provided upon entry) that will offer guests light. The fun doesn’t stop there. The flashlights are interactive, and those who enter with one will find a whole different type of terror waiting for them as they navigate the darkened halls with their trusty (or untrustworthy) flashlight.

Located outside of The Park, Town of Terror can be experienced with a combo ticket for the attraction and The Park, or solo tickets that will only get guests into the attraction. Admission prices can be found on OWA’s website.

If being terrified isn’t for you, or if guests are looking for a more kid-friendly activity to enjoy, then they merely have to enter The Park to find fun for the whole family.

On Fridays from 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 12:30-6 p.m., guests can enjoy the Parkside Pumpkin Patch, which is free to guests with paid admission to The Park, while supplies last. Pumpkins are provided by the park, and kids and adults alike can paint their pumpkin and then have it displayed right in the park.

Also happening during October is The Park After Dark, featuring trick-or-treating and a Spooky Spell Search.

For the in-park trick-or-treating, children can go to various locations within the amusement park and receive complimentary treat bags that will be handed out while supplies last.

The Spooky Spell Search begins upon entry to The Park, where guests are given a map after speaking with the representatives at the first booth. They then follow the map and stop at various scavenger hunt locations, where a cast of “spooky” characters will be waiting for them. The object of the hunt is to break the OWA curse by stopping by all 5 locations that will be scattered around the park.

Both activities included in The Park After Dark, as well as the Parkside Pumpkin Patch, are all non-scary activities and geared towards children. There will also be complimentary face-painting inside the amusement park for kids to enjoy.

What about those who would rather do the Halloween activities on the actual date of the holiday? OWA will be open on both October 30 as well as October 31, and they will be offering every Halloween-related activity to guests on those nights. So whether you’re hoping to take the children out for some trick-or-treating or curse-breaking, or if you were thinking of spending Halloween running from escaped lunatics while navigating a tight maze, OWA will be open from 6-10 p.m. on both the 30 and 31.
