Robert Carl Engel, age 93, lifelong resident of Summerdale, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019.
Robert was a farmer, lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a WWII veteran, where he received two bronze stars.
He was a past chairman of Baldwin County Board of Registrars, a founding member of Baldwin County Sheriff's Boys Ranch, a member of Foley Optimist Club and a board member of South Baldwin Traveler's Club.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Vivian Thiem Engel of Summerdale; four daughters, Nancy (Patrick) Strom of Bay Minette, Patsy (Mike) Collier, Sherry (Marion) Lee, both of Summerdale, Susan (David) Lofthus of Metairie, Louisiana; one sister, Mildred Tetzlaff of Winston Salem, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, Robbie (Elizabeth) Strom, Christopher (Claire) Strom, Heather Collier, Holly (Gerald) Tompkins, Michael (Jackie) Collier, Jason (Stephanie) Lee, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Lee, Megan (Ben) Rowe, Rebekah Lofthus, Rachel Lofthus; 10 great-grandchildren; other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019 at 2 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Foley.
The family will receive friends beginning at 12 p.m. until the time of the service.
Interment will follow in Wynn Cemetery.
