ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — You’ve heard the saying, “One chance in a million," right?

Robertsdale cowboy Cody Harris, star of the hit INSP series “The Cowboy Way,” says he is blessed with a “One in 100 million” chance.

“To get a chance to work with your friends and have the opportunity for that to become a television show is one in a million,” he said. “To have that show picked up by a nationwide network is one in 10 million, and to have that show be successful enough to be going as long as we have must be one in 100 million. It really is.”

Harris, a rodeo champion and cattle dealer, along with friends and fellow Alabama cowboys Bubba Thompson (rancher and carpenter); and Booger Brown (cattleman and horse trainer), are currently anticipating the premiere of their sixth season of “The Cowboy Way,” which airs on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. CT on the general-entertainment network INSP.

The show has already been picked up for a seventh season, and while he can’t give away too much of the show’s plotline, Harris said this is his favorite season so far.

“Really this season and next season are my favorites,” he said. “When you work with your friends, you’re not always going to see eye-to-eye, but in the end they’re still your friends. They’re more than friends, they’re family and I believe the show reflects that.”

According to a release issued by INSP, while Bubba, Cody and Booger have built a strong friendship and success as a company, the cowboys’ day-to-day work schedule and life on the road is taking its toll. With a desire to be home more as their families start to grow, they find their business at a crossroads.

Bubba, Cody and Booger start exploring new ways to expand the company, and each is determined to do it on their own terms. Tensions start to rise as they struggle to see eye-to-eye about what their next move should be.

Things get even more complicated when each cowboy is presented with a dream opportunity - leaving them to question if investing in their partnership is what’s best - for themselves and their friendship. As they decide the fate of their future, the cowboys will have to make hard decisions that will put their friendship to the test.

Harris said for his part, he wanted to explore new technologies to help boost business in the cattle industry.

“It’s coming in the near future,” he said. “You’ll be able to send up a drone and the drone will be able to tell you, not only where the cattle are, but give you all of their vital statistics. Who wouldn’t want to be on the ground floor of that?”

Harris said he is particularly proud of the fact Robertsdale and the surrounding area will be featured prominently in this and the future season.

“We went around, and they took a lot of new B-roll footage, and I am really proud to be able to showcase the area where I grew up and that still means so much to me,” he said.

Harris first hit the reality television scene on the CMT series “Sweet Home Alabama.” Filmed in Fairhope and around Baldwin and Mobile counties, Harris was on the premiere season of the series, which aired in 2011.

From there, he went on to star with fellow “Sweet Home Alabama” alum Thompson in “Southern Nights,” which was set in Savannah, Georgia.

Harris and Thompson joined with Brown to form Faith Cattle Company and shortly thereafter, Harris says, the trio developed the idea for “The Cowboy Way.”

“This is something that’s really been in the making for more than nine years,” Harris said, “and I have been so blessed to be a part of it for so long.”

Harris has also teamed up with rodeo promoter Jerry Byrd and local businessman Bill Patterson to promote the annual Bulls on the Beach which is held at the iconic Flora Bama Lounge every September.

“Three-way partnerships are never easy,” he said, “and I’ve been blessed to be a part of two.”

The show also focuses on the lives of the three cowboys’ families, including Harris’ wife Misty, who has formed her own company, “Full Moon Cattle Company,” and their son Carter; Thompson’s wife Kaley and their daughter Andie; and Brown’s wife Jaclyn, and her son Matthew.

While he is still getting used to being recognized and having fans, Harris said, he never wants to forget about them.

“I’m a cut up and I like to joke,” he says. “Sometimes I like to tell fans that I’m Cody’s brother and that I’m much more handsome than he is. But in the end, I spend time with them, let them take selfies and try to give them the best experience possible. That’s what it’s all about.”
