Shoe Station honors service members with Monthly Military Appreciation Day

Alabama-based Shoe Station honors service members with Military Appreciation Day Thursday, April 19, 2018. Members of the armed forces receive, on the third Thursday of each month, a 20 percent discount off almost all items with a valid military identification, US. Department of Veterans Affairs-issued card, or verification of service. With locations in more than twenty Southeastern cities, Shoe Station is often near military bases.

“We are deeply grateful to military personnel for their service to our nation and communities,” Shoe Station President Brent Barkin said.

The service member discount is a continuation of Shoe Station’s long-standing military outreach effort. In 2017, the independent retailer announced a push to ensure that twenty percent of its workforce is comprised of U.S. military veterans or reserves by 2020. “It makes perfect sense to engage the hardest working and most dedicated Americans around,” Director of Stores Randy Lambert stated. Shoe Station’s product selection is varied enough for the tastes of any service member and includes men’s, women’s, and athletic shoes. The promotion, which includes some product exclusions and restrictions, covers purchases that members of the armed forces make for their families. Shoe Station is one of the nation’s largest independent shoe retailers, with twenty stores in five states. The latest styles of over sixty famous name brands are sold at Shoe Station’s large, self-service, open-shelf locations. The family-owned chain was founded in 1984 and continues its commitment to the Southeast, employing more than 500 individuals in the region. With its website, www.shoestation.com, Shoe Station now serves literally millions of customers nationwide. Service members are encouraged to apply for jobs at www.shoestation.com/careers.
