Signature Bicentennial Event next week

Baldwin County will wrap up the 200th Anniversary Celebration of the state next Thursday with a grand party that everyone is invited to.

On Nov. 7 the Daphne Civic Center will host the Bicentennial Exhibition, a collection of every display crafted over the three year-long celebration. The event is free and begins at 5 p.m. The committee will unveil new artwork commissioned for the anniversary by Fairhope artist Dean Mosher and the book produced by the committee for the anniversary.

“It is packed full of the people and places that make Baldwin county that great county that it is today,” said Felisha Anderson, Baldwin County Archivist.

The evening’s opening ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. The Bicentennial Paintings will be unveiled immediately following the opening ceremony and include a painting depicting Fort Mims by local artist Dean Mosher as well as other Bicentennial exhibits by Mosher and a painting depicting Fort Blakeley and Fort Bowyer by Rick Reeves.

Afterwards attendees can come and go as they please, perusing the displays and artwork as they want. The event ends at 8:30 p.m.

Showings for the Baldwin County Heritage Families Documentaries are as follows:

Part I: The First Settlers, 6:30 p.m.

Part II: Colonies, 7 p.m.

Part III: Like-Minded People, 7:30 p.m.

Part IV: Immigrant Groups, 8 p.m.

Baldwin County Bicentennial Commemorative Book will be on sale as well. Prices are as follows:
