Singer? Magician? Impressionist? Brandon Styles is simply fun

Who is Brandon Styles?

He sings, he dances, he makes things disappear. He even steps outside of himself and returns, morphed into one of 250 different impressions he has mastered.

Now, he performs for audiences every day at OWA in the Brandon Styles Live show, a gig he has been perfecting since age 6 when he moonwalked into the third grade talent show, and never looked back.

“I was always that crazy kid, I wanted to learn to sing and dance and I started doing impressions of Michael Jackson when I was six,” Styles said.

Around the same time, Styles said, he discovered the art of magic, which he took very seriously. On school nights you could find him awake ‘til the wee hours of the morning perfecting his prestidigitation. Brandini, as his adoring fans knew him, began performing magic for hire at age 13, and by 18 had won a place in the top six at the International Brotherhood of Magician’s international contest.

“It’s just something I love to do, I love the reaction,” he said.

Then, he became a triple threat. At about the age of 10, he realized he could mimic some of the musicians his dad listened to. He began crafting voices and imitating the people he heard. Now Styles wows crowds mixing and mingling all three talents effortlessly.

But what to call it?

“I’ve always struggled with that,” he said. “Basically it’s an impressions variety show with magic, ventriloquism, dancing and comedy.”

Basically, in the entertainment world, Styles is a unicorn.

“Weird singing impressions are already pretty rare,” he said. “There are hardly any of us and I do all the extra stuff on top.”

It’s definitely different. And the weird part is, it totally makes sense. Remember when your second cousin rolled out his homemade performances during the family Christmas party? Styles is that guy, with a ton more talent.

And, to top it off, he almost wasn’t here to do any of it.

Six years ago Styles was injured riding a dirt bike. Fragments of his broken femur bone shot through his blood stream and entered his heart and lungs causing internal bleeding. He was placed on life support and was soon fighting for his life.

After 15 hours of surgeries and many ups and downs, Styles said he recovered through “hands on healing.”

“We had miracles happen,” he said. “It’s a miracle I’m here. They said I wouldn’t sing, walk, dance do anything again. I beat all the odds.”

The second chance is what drives him on stage every day.

“I feel like I’m supposed to share that,” he said. “I have a second chance and I’ve been given a crazy gift.”
